The other week I had a potluck. A friend brought a duck from who is AKA the “Duck Nazi”. 
Being in Chinatown as often as I am, I was surprised I had never heard about this place. Most of my guests were already accustomed to getting food from her. Her nickname almost sounded commonplace…
The store is actually called the AA Meat Market which is located on Grand Street. The woman who works here got her nickname for the same reason the Soup Man from Seinfield is AKA the Soup Nazi. You line up here on a long line and if you don’t know what you want, she will yell at you.
All of her customers, though terrified of her, will wait because these roast ducks are the best in the business. They are also surprisingly significantly cheaper than other restaurants.
I ate the duck and savored each bite! It was as delicious as I could’ve imagined.
From now on, this will be my spot for picking up my roast duck! This is where the locals go!
TIP: Make sure you know what you want before you get to the register and have your money ready to pay!

The former Yello is turning into an upscale nightclub.
Renovations have recently been done. It looks like from the drab decor that it might turn into another one of these speakeasy places. I’m eager for its opening and to try it out!
Chinatown prepares a Christmas tree in Confucius Plaza…
Today Mulberry street was packed with people mourning the death of U.S. Army Pvt. Danny Chen.
Pvt. Chen grew up in Chinatown and was said to have died Oct. 3 in Afghanistan. The circumstances which surround his death seem suspicious as there were reports of him being bullied in the service.
Chen’s family said that their son called them saying that he had been beaten for not turning off the water at his base. Days before his death, a friend said that Chen mentioned that he was the only Asian in his unit.
Right now the death is under investigation.
