CHINATOWN PREPARES FOR CHRISTMAS

Chinatown prepares a Christmas tree in Confucius Plaza…

FORMER YELLO

The former Yello is turning into an upscale nightclub.

Renovations have recently been done. It looks like from the drab decor that it might  turn into another one of these speakeasy places.  I’m eager for its opening and to try it out!

THE DUCK NAZI

The other week I had a potluck.  A friend brought a duck from who is AKA the “Duck Nazi”.  Being in Chinatown as often as I am, I was surprised I had never heard about this place.  Most of my guests were already accustomed to getting food from her.  Her nickname almost sounded commonplace…

CHINATOWN SOLDIER BURIAL

Today Mulberry street was packed with people mourning the death of U.S. Army Pvt. Danny Chen.

ASIA MARKET CORP

Loving the Asia Market Corp!

It’s been my new favorite market since marrying my Filippino husband. Here in this Chinatown store, you can find loads of South East Asian foods.

Some of my favorites here are the Bibingka Mix, Mama Sita Seasoning, & Kalamansi Honey.

10-10 PARADE

Pictures from this year’s 10-10 Parade in Chinatown.

WINNIES

Winnie’s is the only bar in Chinatown that I had never been to.

I had been dying to go since it’s been part of Chinatown for forever and a day.  This bar has been written up time and time again and I have felt so behind on the scene.

FOOD SING 88 CORP

Food Sing 88 Corp is one of my new favorite East Broadway restaurants.

MANDARIN TEA ROOM

The Mandarin’s Tea Room is the speakeasy of tea parlors….
